Did you know one of the local footpaths highlights some interesting WWII history? The first sign for the path can be found in the car park opposite the church.
Even if you aren’t interested in the walk for the history, it is a beautiful footpath through woods, along the river, and around fields. You will find a willow tree farm, a garlic woodland, and you’ll see egrets, herons, buzzards and if you’re lucky, a kingfisher! Some of the photos on this site are taken on this walk.
This is also a popular walk for dogwalkers and cross-country runners because of the varying terrain.
Would you know where I could get a copy of this leaflet? Ive recently completed this walk and wanted to recommend it to others with a link to the map? Many thanks

Hi Alison, I’ve a feeling that there are leaflets in the old phone box, opposite the village hall, adjacent to the car park. Otherwise, the library in Chelmsford should have some. I hope that helps.
